AIC (Association of International Champions)

Hosts various AIC rehearsals throughout the week, provides auditorium (ushers) and stage support for the AIC show. (Thursday July 2nd at 7:45pm)

Auditorium/House

Ushering, door monitoring and "shushing" to assure that noise and other activities do not distract competitors. This staff is the largest, requiring about 65 volunteers per event. Events are:

  • Quartet Quarterfinals #1
    (Wednesday July 1st, 11:00am - 3:30pm)
  • Quartet Quarterfinals #2
    (Wednesday July 1st, 6:00pm - 10:30pm)
  • Quartet Semifinals
    (Thursday July 2nd, 11:00am - 3:00pm)
  • Chorus Contest #1
    (Friday July 3rd, 10:00am - 2:00pm)
  • Chorus Contest #2
    (Friday July 3rd, 6:00pm - 10:00pm)
  • College Quartet Contest
    (Saturday July 4th, 9:00am - 1:00pm)
  • Harmony Presents show
    (Saturday July 4th, 2:00pm - 4:30pm)
  • Quartet Finals
    (Saturday July 4th, 7:15pm-10:30pm)

Auditorium / Stage

Marshal competitors in the backstage area during competitions, setting and striking stage risers and equipment for events. (see Auditorium/House for schedule)

Barbertots

Administers the child care room in the auditorium which will be available during contest sessions. (see Auditorium/House for schedule)

Chorditorium

Assist with activities during the chorditorium -- the convention afterglow. (Saturday July 4th late evening)

Church Services/Gospel Sing

Greeters and ushers for the church service and gospel sing. (Thursday July 2nd morning and Sunday July 5th 9:00am)

Civic Relations

Works with Anaheim and Orange County officials to coordinate and arrange formal recognition of convention activities, visitations by officials at convention functions.

Competitor Services

Hosts and assistants for all competing quartets and choruses, also operate / staff a competitor services office during the convention.

Daily Bulletin

Support distribution of the convention daily bulletin. On contest days, distribution of score sheets to the various convention hotels.

Floaters

Volunteers willing to work anywhere they are needed. Sometimes scheduled volunteers have emergencies or unforeseen difficulties and miss their shift. (Needed all week)

Graphics / Signage

Responsible for placing graphics and signs to guide conventioneers and contestants during the convention. (Most work on Sunday June 28th and Monday June 29th)

Harmony Marketplace

Stock and maintain adequate supplies of Harmony Marketplace merchandise, staff the cash registers, etc. (Needed all week)

Hospitality / Information

Staff a welcome booth for arriving barbershoppers and dignitaries. Provide information about the Anaheim area and convention activities. (Needed all week)

Ladies Hospitality

Staff ladies' hospitality room during the convention and support the ladies' breakfast. (Needed all mornings / afternoons, and breakfast Thursday July 2nd 8:30am)

Publicity / Public Relations

Works with the Society's PR manager to promote public exposure through media outlets during the convention. (Needed all week)

Registration

Staff the registration desk during the convention week. Prepare name badges and distribute registration packets. Familiarity with use of computers is helpful. (Needed all week mornings and afternoons)

Transportation

Assist as shuttle loader and off-loader at designated stations. Requires numerous volunteers, especially during competitions. (see Auditorium/House for schedule)

Volunteer Services

Assist in staffing the volunteer office. Check in volunteers, distribute badges and shirts, assign floaters as needed. (Monday June 29th afternoon and evening, Tuesday June 30th through Friday July 3rd morning and afternoon, Saturday July 5th morning)
